studio etiquette
in general

  • Refrain from using scented bath oils or creams prior to coming to class. Please, no perfumes or colognes; many people have allergies.
  • Come to class with an open mind, empty stomach, and clean feet.
  • Please turn off your cell phone before entering the studio. Better yet, leave it in the car.
  • Shoes are not permitted in the yoga or Pilates areas.
  • Do not drink, eat, or chew gum in the studio.
  • Don't rush! Allow ample time to turn off your cell phone, remove your shoes, and sign in for class.
  • If you are late, please enter quietly and mindfully after the meditation. After 10 minutes, NO late entries.
  • Keep our studios and props beautiful -- handle with care! Leave everything a little cleaner than you found it.
  • As a courtesy to others, please close the restroom door after you exit.
  • Please pay for classes on time as a sign of respect and responsibility.
  • Please honor our wonderful staff, teachers, and fellow students. We are all here to learn together.

during class
  • Be mindful of each other's space. Refrain from walking on another student's mat or blankets.
  • Be mindful with your props by carefully setting your props down next to your mat. Tossing a bolster, strap or a pile of blankets can be jarring to the students around you, especially as the class heads into relaxation pose.
  • Be attentive during class.  Paying attention to your teacher's instructions, allows the class to move smoothly without interruption and repetition.
  • If you are confused about something, ask respectfully during or after the class, but keep your questions brief and to the point.
  • Talking and joking during class is impolite. It interferes with what the instructor is explaining and with the concentration of other students. When discussion is necessary, keep it brief.
  • If you must leave the class for water or a break, do so quietly and unobtrusively, and return to class as quickly as possible.
  • If you cannot stay for the entire class, please inform the teacher before the class begins and try to position your mat as close to the door as possible. Leave the area with as little disruption and as quietly as possible.

after class
  • Carefully return your yoga props to the prop pile. Stack the yoga blankets with the fringe toward the wall and the folded edge facing out. Place bolsters with the smooth side out. Roll up the yoga belts before placing them in the appropriate basket.
  • After Pilates, please spray and wipe down your mat with the tea tree oil / water mixture provided.
  • After yoga class, try to prolong the serenity and stillness of your Savasana. Try to refrain from talking until you are in the lobby or outside the studio.
  • Be mindful that there may be another class or massage in session in the adjourning room. Your animated conversation may be interfering with the teacher's instructions and students' relaxation and/or concentration.
  • Turn your cell phone on AFTER you leave the studio.
